What We Have Learned Since ISIS Declared a Caliphate

On June 29, 2014, the apparent leader of the Islamic State in Iraq and Greater Syria (ISIS), Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, declared that he stood at the head of a Caliphate. As many as 20,000 foreigners have joined ISIS in Iraq and Syria and while some now wish to leave, disillusioned with what they’ve experienced.

TAKFIR

Takfir is the act of declaring a Muslim as a disbeliever. Muslims do not determine any Muslim a disbeliever, except after the establishment of proof by which such declaration becomes necessary.

The term Al-wala' wal-bara' refers to the Muslims’ belief, actions and words that is pleasing to God, and withdrawing from and opposing all that is displeasing to God

AL WALA WAL BARA

Jihad, in the Arabic language, 

means to struggle. While Islam does allow the use of force, it can only be done under very strict rules of engagement.
